Hello SEABC Practical Bridge Folks!
We are excited to run the SEABC course, "Practical Topics in Bridge Engineering: Core Bridge Topics" (C55). Our first class starts this Wednesday (January 8) from 6:30-8:30pm (PST). The classes are strictly webcast; a link will be sent to you through a separate message.
This course is a little different than other SEABC courses in that we will have a new instructor each week, someone who is a local expert on that week's topic. I am the course coordinator and will attend most of the classes to serve as a facilitator.
In ClassBit, I have posted a detailed course description which includes a summary of each week's class (topics, instructors, etc). On Wednesday, I will provide further overview. Also in ClassBit, I will post the PDFs of each week's class notes.
We will be starting Wednesday's class with a short "ice-breaker". Please have your cell phone handy to participate. And after the course intro, Darrel Gagnon will take over for the majority of the class to cover Bridge Loading.
By now, I think we are all getting pretty good at remote meetings. Nonetheless, we are keen for the class to feel connected. So my request is that you turn on your video at the start of the class, and if you want to raise a question. Once the technical content gets going, makes sense to shut off your webcam.
If you have any questions, please reach out to to me (keith.holmes@wsp.com).
See you on Wednesday!
Keith
